*After completing the 9 required core MBA courses, you have the option of completing at least 9 hours of thesis work instead of taking elective courses. Your thesis will be directed by an MBA faculty member and approved by a thesis committee, which is composed of at least 3 faculty members.


To apply, you must:

Be 21 years of age or older.
Have earned 30 or more semester credit hours from a regionally accredited institution.
Have a least at 2.0 GPA.

Earn Your Degree Even Faster

In addition to our generous transfer credit policy, students are able to earn credit for previous work experience, CLEP testing and challenge exams.

Challenge Exam Credit

Challenge exams are currently available for the following courses:

  • BUA 101 Introduction to Business
  • CIS 170 Introduction to Microcomputers

To complete the challenge exam process:

  1. Request and complete a Challenge Exam form from the Registrar’s Office.
  2. Upon approval of your form, the Registrar will post a bill for the exam fee. The $75 fee must be paid in full through the Business Office.
  3. Once payment is received, Cumberland will contact you to set up an appointment to take the exam.
  4. To receive course credit for a Challenge Exam, you must score at least 70%.

Portfolio Credit

To earn portfolio credit, you must document in detail your relevant experience related to a courses’ learning outcomes and objectives. Portfolios should be submitted with a $50 processing fee. Any credit awarded is charged at $75 per credit. (A 3 credit course would be $50 + $225 = $275.)
